Module D: Contaminants - The nature of harm

A primary purpose of assessing site contamination is to estimate potential on-site and off-site harm that the contaminants might cause to human health and/or to the integrity of other species, ecosystems or habitats. This module is designed to extend an understanding of the principles of human and ecological toxicology that underpin risk assessment processes for contaminated sites and policy development in environmental protection arena. Case studies are used throughout to illustrate the concepts and applications introduced in this module.
